Playa de Aro, gelegen ten noorden van de Catalaanse hoofdstad Barcelona, is een kustplaats die het hele jaar door ongeveer 10.000 inwoners telt. Het is een goede nederzetting voor zowel vakantiegangers als mensen die op zoek zijn naar een permanente verblijfplaats. De stad is opgesplitst in twee delen: een deel dat uitkijkt over de zee en een deel dat iets landinwaarts ligt. Er zijn talloze kleine stranden die toegankelijk zijn vanuit het deel van de stad dat oorspronkelijk een vissershaven was.
